The mastermind behind the design is the art director Alessandro Moriconi. Having spent his childhood in Tuscany, his formative years in London and his early twenties in Paris, Alessandro has made cultural collisions a natural conversation starter for all his projects. As a collector with a curio cabinet of influences, he selected some local Tuscan artisans to realize some specific design pieces or collect some vintage objects for the villas.
Each space was designed with a specific idea in mind: Moriconi wanted the rooms to communicate to give guests an authentic experience of conviviality, sharing and home feeling, and at the same time provide them with all the hospitality comforts. For Alessandro, the aesthetic part is crucial; together with his team he has searched for different patterns and high-quality materials of selected partners such as Loro Piana interiors, Dedar textiles, Dpa lightings and local craftsmen. For him, this careful and curated research corresponds to an « Exclusive luxury finishing ».
PRIVATES HIGHLIGHTS
Description
Located in the hilly Sant’Antonio area below the Limonaia suites, Villa Usil nestles among sun-dappled olive trees and lush vegetation. A reflection of artisanal Tuscany, it offers a carefully curated blend of rustic beams, wrought-iron balustrades and exposed brickwork. Master craftspeople made and installed each element using traditional Tuscan methods. Tactile textures abound, from plush upholstery to smooth, polished stone and marble. Gentle colour palettes reflect the locale, from terracotta red to bucolic greens and the blue of the Tuscan sky. This is a space for six/seven friends and family to enjoy, the air of conviviality flowing from the three master bedrooms to the fully equipped kitchen, dining room and living room and out to the verdant private garden. Guests can relax on the terrace among jasmine and fragrant plants, gather for alfresco feasts cooked on the wood-burning oven and sip champagne looking out over the spellbinding views. A dedicated housekeeper offers a Mamma del borgo-style service while the hotel’s bartender and chef can create an enchanting aperitivo at the villa. Reflecting the Etruscan heritage are organic amenities handcrafted to age-old recipes. Further benefits include private parking and access to an exclusive pool shared by the six most prestigious villas. Guests are naturally welcome to use all the luxurious facilities and services provided at Castello di Casole.

Fun Facts
Uśil is a recurring deity in the Etruscan world. Meaning ‘sun’ he may be represented young and with short chiton, running on the waves of the sea, usually with a rayed diadem on his head, or within a disk (in the image of the sun).
Long before the Romans inhabited Tuscany, the Etruscans put their sophisticated stamp on it, inhabiting Tuscany from the 9th to the 1st century B.C. The estate of Castello di Casole bears evidence of rich Etruscan culture being home to a collection of Etruscan masterpieces found in the 1870s under Castello’s grounds through a series of excavations. With the desire to pass on the culture of this intriguing ancient civilization, the two Villas, located on Etruscan soil, have been named Thesan, meaning ‘dawn’ and Usil, meaning ‘sun’ in the Etruscan language.
